Turfing

Firstly, remove existing lawn. This is done with a machine called a turf cutter. This machine will remove the existing lawn at a consistent thickness. The next stage is to rotovate the ground in order to relieve compaction. We will rake off stones and weeds etc from the soil. A depth of at least 150 mm of good top soil is recommended prior to turfing so you may need to add some top soil depending on existing soil type. The next stage is to level and compact soil so the new turfs do not sink . The final stage is to rake a fine tilth prior to laying of turfs. When laying the new turf, contact between soil and turf is essential. The turf will be laid in staggered joints (like brickwork) making sure joints are butted closely together.
